New AAPEX Display Features Seven Distinguished Vehicles

Las Vegas – Nov. 6, 2013 – The Automotive Aftermarket Products Expo (AAPEX) is featuring a new display of import and domestic vehicles to reflect the range of cars maintained by attendees at this year’s event in Las Vegas. The 2013 AAPEX started on Tuesday, Nov. 5 and runs through Thursday, Nov. 7 at the Sands Expo Center.

The featured vehicles and their owners are:
            • a 2002 Aston Martin DB7, Paul Casey
            • a 1987 Mercedes 560i, Bob Farris
            • a 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air, Lee Sullivan
            a 1969 Buick Skylark Two-Door Hardtop, Dion Stams
            • a 1966 Mustang 2+2 Fastback, Denise Carrison
            • a 1976 Pontiac Grand Prix SJ, Barry Schlossberg
            • a 2005 Mustang Saleen Supercharged, Jim Noruk

The vehicles are located in Level 1 and Level 2 lobbies of the Sands Expo Center. The new display is made possible by the generosity of the vehicle owners and the following companies: Advance Auto Parts, AutoZone, O’Reilly Auto Parts and Pep Boys.

UNLV Students Serve as Interpreters at AAPEX

Las Vegas, Nev. – Nov. 6, 2013 – Twenty-four students from the William F. Harrah College of Hotel Administration at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV),
are serving as interpreters during the 2013 Automotive Aftermarket Products Expo (AAPEX). The students are on hand to assist attendees and exhibitors with Cantonese, Mandarin, Teochew, Korean, Taiwanese, Japanese, French, Spanish and Portuguese. AAPEX opened Tuesday, Nov. 5 and runs through Thursday, Nov. 7 at the Sands Expo Center in Las Vegas.

AAPEX draws attendees and exhibitors from around the world, and in 2012, more than 130 countries were represented at the event. In addition to the UNLV student interpreters, AAPEX provides an International Buyer Center for visitors and official buying delegations, complete with translators, staff to answer questions and private meeting rooms.

The 2013 AAPEX features nearly 2,400 exhibitors, 5,000 booths and a Learning Forum with approximately 40 complimentary education sessions on the latest industry trends and technologies. The event also includes a designated Remanufacturing Section, a Tool and Equipment Section and the International Heat Transfer Association (NARSA) Heat Transfer and Mobile AC Pavilion. AAPEX Opens with Festivities and a Display of Unity

Las Vegas, Nev. – Nov. 5, 2013 – The 2013 Automotive Aftermarket Products Expo (AAPEX) officially opened on Tuesday, Nov. 5, to the beat of the Basic High School Wolfpack Regiment Drumline, a patriotic Color Guard presentation and a spirited Gold Rush by members of the Automotive Warehouse Distributors Association (AWDA). AAPEX is taking place Nov. 5 through Thursday, Nov. 7, at the Sands Expo Center in Las Vegas.

The championship drumline from Henderson, Nev. and under the direction of Billy (William) Skembos opened the ceremony with a musical performance by 14 students ranging from sophomores to seniors.

Members from the Fox Company, 2nd Battalion, 23rd Marines, Las Vegas, led the Color Guard presentation following the drumline performance. The Marine Color Guard also was on hand to raise awareness of the 2013 U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots campaign. During AAPEX, Federated Auto Parts will be collecting donations for the Toys for Tots campaign to bring joy to less fortunate children during the Christmas holiday season.

To conclude the opening ceremony, one of the key buyer categories at AAPEX – the warehouse distributors (WDs) – showed their pride and readiness to grow their business at AAPEX by wearing Michigan bold maize shirts promoting AWDA and their individual program group to create a Gold Rush. Following the Gold Rush, the doors of the AAPEX exhibit hall officially opened welcoming attendees from approximately 130 countries.

AAPEX Announces 2013 New Packaging Showcase Winners

Las Vegas, Nev. – Nov. 4, 2013 – The Automotive Aftermarket Products Expo (AAPEX) announced winners of its 2013 New Packaging Showcase on Monday, Nov. 4, at the Sands Expo Center in Las Vegas. All New Packaging Showcase entries will be on display in Hall D extension Level 2 during AAPEX, Tuesday, Nov. 5 through Thursday, Nov. 7, at the Sands Expo Center.

PMMI, the Association for Packaging and Processing Technologies, volunteered to judge entries in this year’s showcase. PMMI’s Tom Egan, vice president, Industry Services, and Sean Riley, editor, Packaging Machinery Technology (PMT) magazine, selected the winning entries that reflect the highest standard in packaging design in the following categories:

Economics: Spectra Premium Industries, Redesigned Ford Ranger Family Fuel Tank Strap Sets

According to the judges, winning entries were selected based on several features including use of recycled materials, completely different and unique packaging, eye- catching artwork, “one box” design and ease of stocking.

AAPEX Announces 2013 Product Showcase Winners

Las Vegas, Nev. – Nov. 4, 2013 – The Automotive Aftermarket Products Expo (AAPEX) announced winners of its 2013 Product Showcase on Monday, Nov. 4, at the Sands Expo Center in Las Vegas. All Product Showcase entries will be on display in Hall D extension Level 2 during AAPEX, Tuesday, Nov. 5 through Thursday, Nov. 7, at the Sands Expo Center.

Pre-registered buyers cast nearly 4,830 votes for the best products in this year’s showcase.

Auto International Association to Present Global Market Updates and Highlight Key Export Markets during AAPEX


MOKENA, Ill. – Nov. 1, 2013 – The Auto International Association (AIA), a segment of the Automotive Aftermarket Industry Association (AAIA), is hosting a series of “Global Market Updates” during the Automotive Aftermarket Products Expo (AAPEX) 2013 in Las Vegas, Nev. The new series is aimed at identifying and promoting both import and export trade opportunities for AAIA members. The sessions will be an excellent opportunity to gather information on key foreign markets and members of the media are invited to attend. There will also be an opportunity to ask questions. AAPEX is slated for Tuesday, Nov. 5 through Thursday, Nov. 7, at the Sands Expo Center in Las Vegas.

During AAPEX 2013, AIA has organized three Global Market Update sessions highlighting import and export opportunities for AAIA members in the following markets:  

  • India: Presented by the Automotive Component Manufacturers Association of India (ACMA) in the AAPEX Press Conference Room, Sands Expo Center, Room 304, on Tuesday, Nov. 5 at 1 p.m. 
  • Colombia: Presented by the U.S. Commercial Service in the AAPEX Press Conference Room, Sands Expo Center, Room 304, on Tuesday, Nov. 5 at 3 p.m. 
  • Australia: To be presented by the Australian Automotive Aftermarket Association (AAAA) in the AAPEX Press Conference Room, Sands Expo Center, Room 304, on Wednesday, Nov. 6 at 11 a.m. 

In addition to the Global Market Update series, AIA is also adding a new export-focused session to the AAPEX Learning Forum. The session, entitled “Best Export Opportunities for U.S. Auto Parts,” will be conducted by the U.S. Commercial Service and will provide an overview of U.S. government export assistance programs and key export opportunities for U.S. auto parts manufacturers. Auto industry experts from the Commercial Service will discuss how companies can start or increase international sales and highlight current key markets where export opportunities exist. This session will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 6, 2 p.m. – 3 p.m. in Marco Polo Room 704.
